Merely a Pawn? A Black Butler Love Story
It was an overcast day, as it is for the majority of days in England. The sky seemed to be indecisive as to whether it wanted to rain or remain as a blockade to the sun. The shadows of the clouds seemed to pillage what should have been the bright colors of spring, leaving the lush, vibrant colors as darkened versions of themselves. Prologue to: A Demon's Intrigue
A thick fog covered the slums of London, a haze within the darkness. The rain poured down, plunking off of the rusty metal sheeting that sat propped up against the narrow alleyway.

My eyes fluttered open; I was lying on a canopy bed, covered by soft blankets. The bed was a lot more comfortable then my previous bed of the cold, hard forest floor.
“Where are we?” I asked looking towards Lily.
She was already fully dressed, making me feel slow in comparison. She smiled and said simply “We are at Headquarters, the Academy to be specific.
The Academy? I thought. Never been here before.
“Why are we here?” I asked pointing down at the ground.
She smiled and laughed slightly. “To r
I ran away from the barking dogs, their teeth snapping at my exposed heels. One of the teeth punctured the skin, causing a small prick of pain. Great I thought. All I need is another injury. It was the second injury in three days, a new record for me, but not that anyone is keeping track.
“Get her!” One of the guards who were running behind the dogs yelled in a raspy voice. “Get the traitor!” The dogs immediately obeyed quickening their pace and closing in on what little room separated us.
I tried to run faster, but the waves of exhaustion hit me hard, almost like wind, pushing me back, back t
